About this Conversation

Indiana Fashion Foundation is working to establish the fashion industry as a key investment category to support Indiana-based talent and to further develop and foster the state’s creative economy. Simultaneously, it is our vision to amplify our local efforts to aid in expanding the reach, exposure, and impact of Indiana’s creators. In this conversation, “To Indy & Beyond: Creating Global Impact,” we will hear from a panel of community leaders who have dedicated their careers to building the local community in the city of Indianapolis while working to connect globally. From their own experiences and insights, the panelists will share key strategies for amplifying local efforts and creating maximum impact in Indy and beyond.

About Erika Austin

Erika Austin joined the Indianapolis Colts as Senior Marketing Manager on March 1, 2021.  Her primary responsibilities include driving fan engagement and building the Colts’ brand through the team’s licensing and consumer products, brand quality control, loyalty program, influencer marketing, media planning and affinity clubs. Austin’s sports career started as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of South Carolina and Georgia Tech, respectively, for a combined six years.  Austin has also worked at Eli Lilly and Company as a consumer marketing associate, and Deloitte in Atlanta, Georgia and Indianapolis as an Assistant Director of Corporate Communications for three years. Originally from Indianapolis, Austin received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from IUPUI and a Masters of Sports Administration degree at Ohio University.  Austin also has a graduate certificate in Human Resources from Purdue University Global.

About Bob Schultz

Bob Schultz, APR, Fellow PRSA is the Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Events for Downtown Indy, Inc., a private, nonprofit organization focused on improving Downtown Indianapolis. There, he is responsible for developing and implementing the organization’s strategic marketing and events plan and leads the COVID-19 Downtown recovery efforts to re-position Downtown as a vibrant, safe environment encouraging all to “Back Downtown.” Among his duties is the coordination and marketing of the city’s largest civic events, including March Madness. Prior to joining Downtown Indy, Inc., Bob was Vice President of Borshoff Advertising & Public Relations where he delivered high-level PR and marketing consultation for such client organizations as Eli Lilly and Co., WGU Indiana, University of Notre Dame, NCAA, and the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee. Bob also had a ten year run serving Visit Indy as its primary marketing communications director from 1999-2008. Bob is an Adjunct Marketing Professor at Butler University and currently serves as a board member for Horizon House, Athenaeum Foundation and the Indy Film Commission. He received his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and later, a Master’s from Loyola of Chicago. He and his wife Diane are both lifelong Indy residents and have three children.

About Denisha Ferguson

Denisha-Dlang Ferguson is a creative catalyst, event producer and fashion designer. She is the CEO of the Indiana Fashion Foundation and produces Indiana Fashion Week, along with numerous events, projects and programs. She combines research and creativity to show the power of creative` individuals and how they can use their GOD given creativity to make impact, income and create legacy. She co-authored 2 books that reached #1 AMAZON Bestseller, You Can and Prayers for the Boss Babes. Her work has been featured in tv, magazines and websites like WWD, Forbes, Sheen Magazine, Indy Style, Hope for Women, Inside Indiana Business, IBJ, Pattern Magazine Online, Indianapolis Monthly, Nuvo, Ridiculousness, Indy Star, Houston Style Magazine. She has been a guest on podcasts such as Made in Indy, Do Boss and Motor City Woman.

About Polina Osherov

Polina Osherov is Co-Founder and Executive Director of PATTERN. She is also a commercial photographer. In her spare time when she’s not hanging out with her teenage daughters, and managing her public speaker husband, Polina is also the Editor-in-Chief of PATTERN Magazine.
