Erika Austin joined the Indianapolis Colts as Senior Marketing Manager on March 1, 2021. Her primary responsibilities include driving fan engagement and building the Colts’ brand through the team’s licensing and consumer products, brand quality control, loyalty program, influencer marketing, media planning and affinity clubs.
Prior to joining the Colts, Austin served as the Manager of Trademarks & Licensing at Purdue University, where she was primarily responsible for the overall strategic direction of the licensing program to generate revenue in support of student scholarships and programming. During her time leading the licensing program, Austin has increased the revenue generated from royalties from $900,000 to $1.8 million. In addition to her responsibilities at Purdue, Austin served as a mentor to new licensing professionals for the International Collegiate Licensing Association as well as a member of the planning committee for the organization’s annual conventions. She also was a member of the Fair Labor Association’s Communications Committee.
Serving as a collegiate licensing professional for over 15 years, Austin has overseen the licensing programs at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, TN), where she also served as Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Indianapolis, IN).
Austin’s sports career started as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of South Carolina and Georgia Tech, respectively, for a combined six years. Austin has also worked at Eli Lilly and Company as a consumer marketing associate, and Deloitte in Atlanta, Georgia and Indianapolis as an Assistant Director of Corporate Communications for three years.
Austin also had a successful corporate career, working at Eli Lilly and Company in Indianapolis, Indiana as a consumer marketing associate, managing numerous vendor relationships and supporting strategic product launches for two years. Prior to joining Eli Lilly and Company, Austin worked at Deloitte & Touche in Atlanta, Georgia and Indianapolis as an Assistant Director of Corporate Communications for three years.
Originally from Indianapolis, Austin received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from IUPUI and a Masters of Sports Administration degree at Ohio University. Austin also has a graduate certificate in Human Resources from Purdue University Global.
